I have seen lots of reading lists lately and decided to write one up for myself. First of all, I wrote up all the books on writing the I have collected (and yes, I think that is the correct term). I was amazed. Now part of it is that I am a sucker for a sale. Most of the books that I have were either free (oh, those free Kindle deals) or of the Kindle $0.99-$2.99 variety. I also picked up some used and also some at the Writer’s Digest year end sale.
Did you miss my post on free or almost free books? You can check it out here.
While I want to make a plan to read those books, somehow my pleasure reading feels so much more important right now. Listed below are the books that have caught my attention for 2014. This list will change over the year but this is the way it looks today.

I also have received a suggestion of reading something by Bryce Courtenay.
Why did I tell you about the books on my book list? I know that I do like to look at other’s lists just to see if there is a wonderful book that I have missed and would like to read. Perhaps there is a book on this list that will catch your eye to be your next winter read.
I will give you periodic updates as I read the books to let you know how I felt about them. Please feel free to comment and let me know if you have read them and what you thought of them.
Do you have any suggestions for me? I would love to hear about them! You can either comment below or send me a tweet (@carolearlycoone) or circle me on Google+ (Carol Early Cooney). If you would rather, Facebook and LinkedIn are available also. Plenty of ways to stay in touch!
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for the list.. I am always looking for a suggestion. I want to offer up” The Boys in the Boat “by Dan Brown. Not the Dan Brown, but another one that uses a middle initial that I can’t remember It is the story of the U of Washington 8 man crew team that goes to the Berlin Olympics in 1936. Such an amazing story.
Thanks, Kathy! I will check it out!

I’ve started a 2014 Reading Challenge list on Goodreads for the books I plan on reading this year.
Let me know how it goes. I think I might be a bit ambitious and I know that I will pick up other books. Good Luck!
Carol, the Sue Monk Kidd is one I’m interested in, too — if only because I thought that was a great title. It was great to read your list. I shared a link to your list at the bottom of my reading post. 🙂
